My kids just got back from the first day of a 5 day evening summer soccer camp with a local church. This camp takes the place of the church’s annual Vacation Bible School. They put on an excellent performance of games, skits, snacks, soccer drills and reinforcing the Word of God.
Honestly, I don’t expect my kids to “learn” a lot during this camp, but kicking the ball around for a couple of hours each night is NOT a bad thing. Plus, they are having a blast. And, they get to see teammates and friends and socialize.
Maybe more churches need to look into a program like this.
