First of all, I am a HUGE supporter of Women’s Professional Soccer. I’m excited to watch the games and I’m excited that my young daughter will be able to follow women’s soccer and maybe develop a few “heroes”.
However, I’m very disappointed in one WPS detail…..club uniforms.
After watching the WPS Season Preview on FSC, I saw a [...]

The official announcement was made today in Barboursville that the US Youth Soccer’s Region 1 championships is coming to West Virginia in 2009 and 2010.
Honestly, I am soooo excited about this event. It’s gonna be a lot of work, but so well worth it. The economic impact is in the $12 million dollar area per [...]

I was watching the MLS All-Star game on ESPN and noticed one thing….having the most talented players on one team does always make it a great team.
I wasn’t overly impresses by the MLS team. There were some shining moments…like Blanco’s goal. I think the MLS was just good enough to beat West Ham United 3-2.
I [...]

The U16 India National Team ended their Charleston stint with a 2-2 tie against the Reading Rage, a Super-Y League team (a step below the Reading Rage PDL team) Thursday night.
After spending a month in Charleston, India ended with 6 wins, 0 loses and 1 tie. Not bad for a group of 15 and 16 [...]

Did you hear this one? In a nutshell, there was a flight from Boston to LA with MLS New England Revolution players on board. A passenger (not a player) came out of the bathroom naked, ran around, got dressed, headed for the emergency hatch and tried to open it.
The good news….plaeyrs and coaches tackled him, pinned him to [...]

I’ve been busy the past few days playing FIFA 08 on Wii. What an awesome game!
Last weekend, I decided to rent it at Blockbuster to see what it was like before I bought it. So, with a 5 day rental, I’ve been playing like a madman.
I chose Man U. most of the time playing against such [...]

I think Ralph Hensley, the head football coach at Riverside High School, was right on the money when he said the following in Saturday’s Gazette Mail:
“It seems like they (players) don’t take it (practice) quite as serious,” said Hensley, 56, who won four state championships at East Bank. “We kind of preach, and they know [...]

I really can’t believe the press soccer has been getting lately here in Charleston. We had three articles in the Charleston Daily Mail this week which included the new AAA and AA-A soccer classes, the need for more soccer fields in the valley as well as the recent USYSA Region I Championships.
Then last night, I was watching [...]

Last night, I watched Real Salt Lake and Houston play in MLS action. Even though it ended in a 0-0 tie, I really enjoyed the game.
I love watching soccer any chance I can get, which is why I was in heaven watching the 2008 European Championships last month. I think that’s one of the perks [...]

From June 27, 2008 to July 1, 2008, 17 of the best West Virginia soccer teams competed in the 2008 US Youth Soccer Association Region I Championships in Maine. West Virginia teams, both boys and girls U12-U19, ended with a combined record of 5 wins, 36 loses and 7 ties.
None of the West Virginia teams made it [...]
